Before you file a notice
Make sure you own the rights or act for the owner. Check whether the use may be allowed by law. Fair use and licensed use are common. Collect direct links to the exact pages on our site.
How to send a takedown notice
Your written notice must include all items below.
- Your full name, mailing address, phone number, and email.
- A clear description of the copyrighted work. If the notice covers many works, list a representative set.
- The exact URL or URLs on digitdost.com where the material appears. Screenshots help, but URLs are required.
- A statement that you have a good faith belief the use is not authorized by the owner, the agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or are authorized to act for the owner.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
Email your notice to copyright@digitdost.com and legal@digitdost.com. You can also send it by post to our address.
What we do after a notice
We review the notice. If something is missing, we will ask you for it. If the notice is valid, we remove or disable access to the reported material. We notify the person who posted the material and share your notice with them.
How to send a counter notice
If your content was removed and you believe this was a mistake or a misidentification, send a counter notice that includes all items below.
- Your full name, mailing address, phone number, and email.
- The content that was removed and the location where it appeared before removal.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good faith belief the material was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification.
- Your consent to the jurisdiction of the courts in New Delhi, India. Your agreement to accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice or their agent.
- Your physical or electronic signature. Typing your full legal name is acceptable.
Restoration timeline
We forward valid counter notices to the original complainant. If we do not receive notice of a court action, we may restore the material within 10 to 14 business days after forwarding the counter notice.
Repeat infringement
We may limit, suspend, or end access for users who repeatedly infringe copyrights. We keep records of valid notices and counter notices to apply this policy.
False claims
Knowingly sending a false notice or a false counter notice can have legal consequences. File only if you are certain.
Helpful format tips
- Put links in plain text.
- Use common document types such as PDF or DOCX for attachments.
- Do not send executable files.
